Location, Location, Location – what more can I say about Hotel Lloret on La Rambla in Barcelona Spain! The rooms may be cosy, but the personality of this hotel is huge! I have to say – it was a terrific find, and I am so pleased that one of my travel friends suggested I stay there over Easter. I fell in love with Barcelona – I know I will be back – and I hope to call Hotel Lloret home once again!
Let’s start with the basics – free WiFi – in this day and age, I find it tough to believe this service is not available in some hotels. Happy to say – Hotel Lloret provided internet access for their guests, which worked in the guest rooms and in the breakfast room! Breakfast was included – a selection of cereals, yogurt, breads, fruits, ham & cheese and the essential tea and coffee to start the day! They even had adorable patio chairs on the patio overlooking Barcelona’s La Rambla pedestrian walkway – perfect to watch the world go by, and boy does it ever!
The location is perfect, a mere 50 m from Plaza Catalunya. The easiest way to get there – take the Aerobus direct from your terminal to the Plaza – follow the people to La Rambla – a hub of activity day and night – this pedestrian walkway passes right past the hotel’s front doors. The bus runs every 5 minutes and you pay the driver when you board. For 5.30 Euros, you can’t go wrong. They have a bus for each terminal. It was so simple, even with my overstuffed suitcase, we gladly used the bus to get back to the airport on our trip home!
Not only is the bus so quick and easy, the metro and train is also close at hand. Want a more romantic form of transportation – horse and carriage rides passed under my window as I stepped out on the balcony and took in my wonderful view. Lucky for me – one of my objectives while in Barcelona was to go to Desigual, a funky and colourful Spanish design label with amazing clothes – you would not believe the squeals of delight as I looked across the walkway and directly into the store! Not wasting a moment, bags were dropped and I was running across the street to get into the home of shopping nirvana! In no time, I was decked out in new coat (funky, isn’t it!!!!), dress and summer shirt! Love the originality. I think I see Gaudi’s influence in the fashion. (Even Peter did well, coming out with a funky new shirt to dazzle at home!!!!

Hotel Lloret Ramblas is strategically located by the head of La Rambla pedestrian street, right next to Plaza Catalunya, at the intersection of metro, train and bus lines. Surrounding Plaza Catalunya are fantastic shops, restaurants and entertainment. Never a dull moment, La Rambla is where it is at! Just up the street from the hotel, the historic Mercat de la Boqueria is certain to stimulate your senses! The yummiest and freshest tapas are available all over – after our little shopping extravaganza, a little wine and Spanish delights were definitely on the cards. You will find plenty of selection.

La Ramblas! Aah, fond memories! I visited Barcelona in 2009 with my then boyfriend (now husband). Loved all the street entertainers and the buzzing atmosphere. Would recommend it to anyone! The Aquarium is also surprisingly spectacular, as is the giant Mammoth in the park by the zoo. Check me out – tour guide extraordinaire. 😉

Saw a fair bit of the street entertainment – from the hotel room balcony, I had a great view of a few of the buskers – there is some great talent out there! Wouldn’t mind seeing the Aquarium – have heard good things but just ran out of time!

My youngest son visited Spain through a Student Ambassador Program, carried out through his High School, years ago. He called me at 3 A.M. (my time) to tell me how awesome it is. He fell in love with the Architecture. Maybe one day, I’ll see for myself. I keep hearing wonderful things about the beauty to be found throughout Europe. 🙂

( Desigual ). And also it is presently undergoing some renos, so a bit of sprucing up won’t hurt a bit ! Overall, best location, and I too would recommend it.
