Loving the lazy hazy days of summer?? Me too!
Here’s a roundup of what is happening at TDBL: Happy to see some of my summer inspired posts are hitting the mark in the popularity stakes. Travel Tips on where to stay in Plitvice Lakes National Park is out in front for the most popular post this July, followed by tips from the Ottawa Restaurant Bucket List project…I can only imagine how popular the Ottawa Patio Project (#OttPatioProject on twitter) will be when it hits the blogosphere – stay tuned…doing some hard core research over here!
This post really inspired me – you could say that it is a philosophy that transcends travel. It is a concept I have been grappling with for a while now and am in awe of the courage of such a move – From Materialism to Minimalism. It’s well worth the read. Do you think you could do this? I hope to move in that direction, but the tough question – could I really do it?
I still find it hard to believe that it has already been a month since my first major travel blogger conference experience. I met so many great travel writers in Toronto. I was a little star struck by some of the more prominent bloggers in the industry and revelled in catching up with blogger friends that I knew both online and in person. There were two memories that will stand out prominently in my mind – my time in the RWTBEX (Flipkey) house and my 3 days in Explorers’ Edge where I shared some great quality time with a small group of fellow outdoor enthusiasts that I won’t soon forget. Our group of 5 shared a lot of time together – we survived the Bushwallow back country on mountain bikes, played on the pristine waterways of the region and roared through Bear Claw’s trails on ATV’s like pros! It has been fun to go back and read the various accounts of the trip through the eyes of my new found adventure partners. We were all on the same trip, yet had such different experiences! Here are a few of the tales from the Quintessential Canadian Wilderness Experience through the eyes of my fellow adventurers:
- Lisa of Girl about the Globe – Algonquin Park for the Adventurous
- Jill of Jack and Jill Travel – Ontario, Where the Wild Things Are and Canoe Algonquin Park, Can it get more Canadian than this?
- Aaron of Aaron’s Worldwide Adventures – Stand up on a Paddle Board in Ontario’s Explorers’ Edge
- Red of Red Hunt Travel shares some impressive moose photos from our trip: Springtime Moose in Algonquin Park, Mountain Biking at Buckwallow
It wasn’t all wildlife and adventure at TBEX – segway tours in the distillery district and urban art also featured in my experience with a look behind the paint can on a Graffiti Tour through the streets of Toronto.
Of course, Travel Destination Bucket List is dedicated to bucket listable destinations and experiences. I dream of exotic locales such as Petra in Jordan, cycling in Israel and the Christmas Markets of Germany. Right in my own back yard, one of my bucket list dreams is to see the northern lights of Churchill, Manitoba. What about you – does the ethereal glow of the northern sky have you daydreaming of dawning a parka and battling the cold? Hard to imagine as we are sitting through such a hot summer, but let Emma’s Bucket List tantalize your travel tastebuds and you tell me if you still would love to see the Northern Lights? Or perhaps, my good friend Craig at Stay Adventurous might tantalize your imagination as he has mine on his trip to Churchill Manitoba, pushing the experience further up my wish list with his account of the Northern Lights experience!

One final share – I couldn’t help myself!!! Flag-Jackers…have you come across any of these people on your path?

Happy travels.
